- Hand over or delete owned workspacesTransfer ownership on the Team & projects page, or delete the workspace under Settings, Workspace, for every workspace you own.
- Open account settingsGo to Settings. The Account tab opens.
- Start the deletionUnder Delete account, choose "Delete my account…".
- ConfirmType "delete my account", enter your password (and a two-factor or recovery code if two-factor authentication is on) and choose "Delete my account".
You can delete your sign-in account yourself at any time. It cannot be undone. Deleting your account is different from deleting a workspace: a workspace keeps running for its other members, while your account is removed from all of them.
Before you start
- You must not own any workspace. For each workspace you own, either transfer ownership to another member or delete the workspace. Until then, the Delete account panel lists the workspaces you own and the button is disabled.
- Your account needs a password. If Password shows Not set, set one first.
- If you are in on-call rotations, tell the workspace admins: your shifts become coverage gaps until someone updates the schedules.
Delete the account
- Go to Settings. The Account tab opens.
- Under Delete account, choose Delete my account….
- Type delete my account to confirm.
- Enter Your password. If two-factor authentication is on, also enter the Code from your authenticator app, or tick Use a recovery code instead.
- Choose Delete my account. You are signed out, and a confirmation email goes to your address.
What is removed
- Your membership in every workspace, so you lose access to all of them.
- All your signed-in sessions, on every device.
- Your two-factor setup and recovery codes.
- Your personal alert destinations (the ones used only when you are on call).
- Your Slack user links (for the Acknowledge button).
- API tokens you created, which are revoked.
What stays
- Workspaces, monitors, incidents and shared destinations stay with their workspaces.
- Workspace audit logs keep their history. Your past actions stay in the log, shown as a deleted account instead of your email address.
- Your email address becomes free: you can sign up again with it later, as a new account.
On-call schedules
Your shifts in on-call rotations are not reassigned automatically. They become coverage gaps: during those shifts nobody is paged for that schedule, and escalation moves on to the next step. Workspace admins should edit the rotations; see on-call schedules. The same happens when a member is removed from a workspace.
Troubleshooting
- "You own a workspace; transfer or delete it first": the panel lists the workspaces you still own. Transfer or delete each one, then try again.
- "The password is incorrect": enter your current password. After repeated failures, wait 15 minutes or reset your password.
- "Enter a code from your authenticator app or a recovery code": two-factor authentication is on, so a second factor is required.
- "Type "delete my account" to confirm": type the phrase exactly, in lowercase.
