Quick summary

Uptime Tracker is a solid StatusCake alternative for teams that want uptime monitoring tightly connected to incidents, status pages and on-call. StatusCake is an established service whose public pages list uptime, page speed, SSL, domain and server monitoring, with a free plan and several paid tiers. If page speed tests or server resource monitoring are important to you, StatusCake covers areas Uptime Tracker does not.

What Uptime Tracker offers

Uptime Tracker monitors HTTP(S), TCP ports, DNS records and cron jobs on every plan, adds ping, domain expiry and advanced HTTP on Starter, and adds gRPC, SMTP/IMAP and multi-step API workflows on Team. Monitors are marked down only after consecutive failures, and incidents open automatically with a timeline and public updates for your status page.

  • Free ($0): 2 standard monitors at a 5-minute interval, 5 heartbeat monitors, 1 status page, 1 login seat, email, Slack, Discord, Telegram and signed webhook alerts. Commercial use is allowed.
  • Starter ($9/month or $90/year): 10 monitors down to 60-second checks, 10 heartbeat monitors, 3 status pages with custom domains, 2 seats, SMS from prepaid credit, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Pushover, ntfy, Gotify, Mattermost and Rocket.Chat, routing rules, ping, domain expiry and advanced HTTP checks.
  • Team ($49/month or $490/year): 50 monitors down to 30-second checks, 50 heartbeat monitors, 10 status pages including private password-protected pages, 10 seats plus 20 read-only guest viewers, PagerDuty, on-call rotations, escalation policies, monitor dependencies, gRPC, SMTP/IMAP and multi-step API workflows.

Every new owner can try Team free for 14 days without a card; the trial ends on Free automatically. Annual billing costs 10 times the monthly price. Downgrading never deletes data: excess monitors are paused and excess status pages archived.

Maintenance windows suppress alerts and are excluded from availability; recurring weekly windows are available on Starter and up. Learn more about cron job monitoring and alerts.

Current limitations, stated plainly: checks run from a single probe location today, with additional probe regions planned. There are no voice-call alerts, no browser or synthetic (scripted click-through) checks, and heartbeat monitors accept expected intervals from 15 seconds up to 1 hour, so daily or weekly jobs are not a fit yet. HTTPS monitors show the certificate expiry date and alert when a certificate is expired or invalid, but there are no separate advance expiry warning emails yet.

Where StatusCake is a strong choice

StatusCake is a strong choice if you want a broad set of check types from one long-standing vendor. Its pricing page lists uptime, page speed, SSL, domain and server monitoring, and it offers status pages as a separate product.

  • If you need page speed tests, Uptime Tracker does not offer them; it records response time and timing breakdowns only.
  • If you want server resource monitoring (CPU, memory, disk), Uptime Tracker does not install agents on servers.
  • If you need advance SSL certificate expiry alerts, StatusCake lists SSL monitoring; Uptime Tracker alerts only once a certificate is expired or invalid.
  • If you need checks from several locations today, review StatusCake's plans; Uptime Tracker currently uses one probe location.

Switching from StatusCake

You can switch by recreating monitors via CSV import or the API, then rebuilding alerts and status pages. There is no direct StatusCake importer.

  1. Sign up with your email; no password is needed.
  2. Prepare a CSV of your uptime checks and import it, or script the move with the REST API (300 requests per minute) or the monctl CLI.
  3. Recreate alert destinations. On Starter, add SMS (prepaid credit), Microsoft Teams or Google Chat, and routing rules.
  4. Rebuild your status page and invite subscribers to re-subscribe; subscriptions use double opt-in, so existing subscriber lists cannot simply be copied.
  5. Keep page speed or server monitoring in StatusCake or another tool if you rely on it.

History does not transfer. Step-by-step guides are in the help center.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The Free plan includes 2 monitors at a 5-minute interval, 5 heartbeat monitors and 1 status page, with commercial use allowed. Check StatusCake's pricing page for its current free plan.

Does Uptime Tracker offer page speed monitoring?

No. Uptime Tracker records response time with DNS, connect, TLS and time-to-first-byte timing, but does not run page speed tests.
