Hyperping alternative: Uptime Tracker

Comparing Hyperping and Uptime Tracker: free plans, status pages, on-call, incidents and pricing models, plus how to move monitors with CSV import or the API.

Updated By the Uptime Tracker team

Summary

Hyperping is a hosted monitoring platform with a free plan that combines uptime checks, status pages, browser checks and on-call. Uptime Tracker offers a similar mix of uptime monitoring, status pages, incidents and on-call in flat workspace plans, without browser checks. Pick Hyperping if you need browser checks or multi-region monitoring today; pick Uptime Tracker if its plan structure fits your team better.

Quick summary

Uptime Tracker and Hyperping are close in positioning: both combine uptime monitoring, status pages and incident response for small and mid-sized teams, and both offer a free plan. Hyperping additionally offers browser checks on paid plans, which Uptime Tracker does not. The differences that matter most are plan structure, seat counts and which specific features each tier includes.

For Hyperping's current plan limits and prices, check Hyperping's pricing page; we do not quote them here.

What Uptime Tracker offers

Uptime Tracker provides HTTP(S), TCP, DNS and heartbeat monitoring on every plan, with ping, domain expiry and advanced HTTP on Starter and gRPC, SMTP/IMAP and multi-step API workflows on Team. Incidents open automatically after a confirmed failure and support acknowledgement, assignment, runbook links, internal notes and public status updates.

  • Free ($0): 2 standard monitors at a 5-minute interval, 5 heartbeat monitors, 1 status page, 1 login seat, email, Slack, Discord, Telegram and signed webhook alerts. Commercial use is allowed.
  • Starter ($9/month or $90/year): 10 monitors down to 60-second checks, 10 heartbeat monitors, 3 status pages with custom domains, 2 seats, SMS from prepaid credit, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Pushover, ntfy, Gotify, Mattermost and Rocket.Chat, routing rules, ping, domain expiry and advanced HTTP checks.
  • Team ($49/month or $490/year): 50 monitors down to 30-second checks, 50 heartbeat monitors, 10 status pages including private password-protected pages, 10 seats plus 20 read-only guest viewers, PagerDuty, on-call rotations, escalation policies, monitor dependencies, gRPC, SMTP/IMAP and multi-step API workflows.

Every new owner can try Team free for 14 days without a card; the trial ends on Free automatically. Annual billing costs 10 times the monthly price. Downgrading never deletes data: excess monitors are paused and excess status pages archived.

Status pages refresh every minute, support email subscriptions with double opt-in, custom domains on Starter and up, and private password-protected pages on Team. Pages show a "Powered by Uptime Tracker" note. See status pages and API monitoring.

Current limitations, stated plainly: checks run from a single probe location today, with additional probe regions planned. There are no voice-call alerts, no browser or synthetic (scripted click-through) checks, and heartbeat monitors accept expected intervals from 15 seconds up to 1 hour, so daily or weekly jobs are not a fit yet. HTTPS monitors show the certificate expiry date and alert when a certificate is expired or invalid, but there are no separate advance expiry warning emails yet.

Where Hyperping is a strong choice

Hyperping is a strong choice if you want a polished all-in-one product that includes browser checks. Its public pages describe uptime monitoring, status pages, on-call and incident management, and browser checks on paid plans, positioned as one platform that replaces several tools.

  • If you need browser checks that load real pages, Uptime Tracker does not offer them.
  • If you need checks from multiple regions today, review Hyperping's plans; Uptime Tracker currently checks from one probe location.
  • If you need white-labeled status pages, check Hyperping's higher tiers; Uptime Tracker pages show a "Powered by Uptime Tracker" note.
  • If you need SAML single sign-on, check Hyperping's plans; Uptime Tracker does not offer SSO.

Switching from Hyperping

To switch, recreate monitors with CSV import or the API, then rebuild alerts, on-call and status pages. There is no direct Hyperping importer.

  1. Create a workspace and start the 14-day Team trial if you want to test on-call and escalation first; no card is required.
  2. Import monitors from CSV, or use the REST API or monctl to create them programmatically.
  3. Point cron jobs at new heartbeat URLs; intervals must be between 15 seconds and 1 hour.
  4. Recreate alert channels, routing rules and on-call rotations.
  5. Rebuild your status page and move the custom domain with a TXT and CNAME record. Subscribers re-subscribe through double opt-in.

Browser checks have no equivalent and should stay in a tool that supports them. History does not transfer. See the help center.

Bottom line

Choose Hyperping if you need browser checks, multi-region monitoring or white-labeled status pages today. Choose Uptime Tracker if its plans and seat counts fit your team and you mainly need HTTP, API, DNS, TCP and heartbeat monitoring with status pages and on-call.
