Import monitors from CSV or Uptime Kuma

Bulk-create monitors from a CSV file or an Uptime Kuma JSON backup. Preview every row, see duplicates and unsupported types, then confirm the import.

Updated By the Uptime Tracker team
  1. Open the import pageGo to Monitors and choose Import.
  2. Pick a source formatSelect CSV (monitors.csv/v1) or Uptime Kuma backup (JSON).
  3. Upload or paste the fileUse "Upload a file" or paste the contents into the text box.
  4. Preview the importChoose "Preview import" and review each row: create, duplicate, unsupported or invalid.
  5. ConfirmFix any invalid rows, then choose "Create N monitors". Copy new heartbeat URLs, which are shown only once.

You can create many monitors at once from a CSV file or an Uptime Kuma backup. Import is available on every plan. Nothing is created until you confirm, and imports are all-or-nothing.

CSV format

The CSV format is monitors.csv/v1, up to 200 rows per file. Required columns are name, kind and interval_seconds. Optional columns are target, http_method, dns_record_type, expected_value, timeout_seconds, heartbeat_grace_seconds and tags (separated by ;).

The easiest way to get a valid file is Export current monitors (CSV) on the same page: an export can be re-imported unchanged.

Uptime Kuma backup

In Uptime Kuma, go to Settings → Backup → Export and download the JSON file. Then pick Uptime Kuma backup (JSON) and upload it. These monitor types are converted:

  • HTTP and keyword monitors become HTTP(S) monitors
  • Port monitors become TCP port monitors
  • Ping monitors become Ping (ICMP) monitors
  • DNS monitors become DNS record monitors
  • Push monitors become heartbeat monitors
  • gRPC monitors become gRPC health monitors

Other types are listed as unsupported and skipped. Credentials and custom headers are never imported; add them again as stored secrets. Ping and gRPC need a plan that includes those check types.

Review the preview

After Preview import, each row shows a status and any problems:

  • create: will be created.
  • duplicate: matches an existing monitor and is skipped.
  • unsupported: a type that cannot be converted, skipped.
  • invalid: an error you must fix. While any row is invalid, nothing is created.

The preview also shows the remaining standard and heartbeat slots on your plan, so you can see whether everything fits before you confirm.

Heartbeat URLs

Imported heartbeats get new URLs; old URLs from another tool do not carry over. After the import, the New heartbeat URLs table is shown only once. Use Copy all heartbeat URLs and update your jobs.
